Jennie T. Kemp Memorial Scholarship
The Jennie T. Kemp Memorial Scholarship provides scholarship assistance to qualified persons seeking to enhance their educational studies beyond the high school level. Sister Jennie T. Kemp was the First Lady of The Community A. M. E. Zion Church in Vancouver, Washington who had a passion for helping individuals pursue higher education. We want to continue her commitment to self-improvement through higher education. The Scholarship helps to raise funds for the selected scholars.

To be considered for this scholarship, you must be:

1. An active member of Community A. M. E. Zion Church     (Class Leader’s recommendation required); or, 2. An active member in good standing within the OR/WA Conference, A. M. E. Zion    Church (Pastor’s recommendation required); or, 3. An active member of a Christian Church,     (Pastor’s recommendation required); and 4. A high school senior or college undergraduate or graduate student seeking a    college Degree or advanced Vocational training beyond the high school level. 5. Accepted by an accredited College or Vocational Institution     (Acceptance letter or other evidence of program admittance required).

Student Information: Applicants meeting the above requirements must fully complete the application and shall provide a typewritten statement of educational goals, career objectives and financial need along with a narrative explaining clearly why the applicant should be considered.   SELECTION PROCESS

The Scholarship Committee will take into consideration the following in making their selections: 1. Academic achievement. 2. Educational goals and career objectives. 3. Campus/Community activities, especially leadership experience. 4. Financial need.

Preference will be given to active members of Community A.M.E. Zion Church.


Applications must be received by Sunday April 21, 2019. Applications received after the deadline may not be considered.


Recipients will be contacted and expected to attend the Jennie T. Kemp Scholarship program on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 3:00 pm.
