Sunday Mornings

10am

Come as you are.

We're a community of real people. We have imperfect messy lives, but we are pursuing and experiencing a transforming relationship with Jesus and with each other. Everybody is welcome here whatever your story, your questions, doubts, or struggles. We’re all about doing life together in community, being intentional about our growth as people, serving one another, and serving our local communities of Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Woodstock, and beyond.

We want to invite you to our Sunday Gathering at 10am to experience our community of Jesus-followers authentically engaging the God we love!

We’d love to connect with you and help make your first visit to Community as smooth as possible. Click the “Plan Your Visit” button and we’ll meet you at the front door to help you find your way around, get coffee, get your kids checked into Children’s Church, and find a seat before the service begins. We can’t wait to meet you!

New here?

  • We offer Children’s Church from newborn through 12th grade.

This program focuses on building personal relationships with God, fellowship among our youngest members, and emphasizing faith-driven community care.

To do this, we nurture an understanding of the basic teachings of the Bible through arts, crafts, age-appropriate community service projects, seasonal productions performed for our congregation, and more!

Lessons are divided appropriately by age, and biblical truth is emphasized in an engaging, dynamic, practical, and fun way using Grow Curriculum. Whether your children go to Children’s Church or choose to stay by your side throughout service, they are joyfully welcomed at Community A.M.E. Zion.

When you attend, just sign your child(ren) in, and when you enter through the main doors, an Usher will be available to escort your child(ren) aged 5th grade and under to the Children’s Area. We encourage older children to attend the first half of service to learn the A.M.E. service rites, and will be guided to the Children’s Area afterwards.

We take your kids' safety very seriously by doing full background checks on every single person serving with Children’s Church.

  • When we say, “Come as you are,” we mean it! You will notice an easy-going environment where people are dressed as they wish — there is no dress code. Most attenders wear business-casual clothing or even jeans. We’re just happy to have you!

We have friendly, knowledgeable Ushers stationed at the building entry and sanctuary entry who would love to meet you and can introduce you to others.

If you arrive early, you’ll have no problem getting a seat of your choice. If you arrive a little late one of our Ushers can help direct you to an open spot.

If you choose to drop off your children, grab a fresh cup of coffee from our coffee bar in the fellowship hall, and then make your way to the sanctuary.

  • Community has been blessed with incredibly talented members who serve our community each week by sharing their gifts.

Our African Methodist roots are reflected in our style of worship music: gospel. We sing a number of older, beloved hymns while never shying away from more contemporary music with modern arrangements breathing new life into some of the best songs from the past.

The quality and Christ-centered depth of our worship music is one of the defining aspects of our Sunday morning gatherings.

  • The word “sermon” is simply a formal way of saying “teaching”.

Our teaching time is focused on taking the deep truths of the Bible in a way that gives us a holistic understanding of the Word of God as it was in the beginning and as it shall be forevermore.

Generally, Rev. Dr. Joyce takes us through the Bible verse by verse, often tying the teachings of the Old Testament to the New Testament, explaining them in a manner that makes sense and can be applied with practical application everyday.

Expect our sermons to last roughly 35 minutes, with our entire service lasting around 1 hour. Watch our past sermons here.

  • Every week, we respond in worship in a few different ways.

Those who consider Community A.M.E. Zion their home will be given the opportunity to worship with their finances by giving back a portion to God via an offering. You should feel no pressure to take part in this. If you’d like to learn more about the financial side of Community, you can do so here.

If we are wrapping up a sermon series, Christ-followers will be invited to take part in communion. This keeps us focused on the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. Learn more about our church traditions on our blog.

Service is closed with the benediction, which is simply a blessing as we go back into the world after hearing and recommitting ourselves to The Holy Word.

Please don’t feel like you need to run out right away! Take some time to meet new people if you are ready for that. You will be invited to fill out a Connect Card, and one of our staff members will reach out to you and give you more information about Community.

We hope to see you soon!
